Richardson is a minor line in my family tree. It began when Ann Richardson, who was born in 1840 in North Crawley, Bucks married into my Ager family tree by marrying Samuel Ager in North Crawley 24 May 1858.

Ann Richardson was the eldest of eleven children all born in North Crawley to John Richardson and his wife Sarah.

The Richardson children, siblings to Ann were:
Edwin (1842)
Betsy (1844)
Joseph (1846)
Samuel (1848)
Mary (1850)
Charlotte (1852)
Sarah (1854)
Charles (1858)
John (1860)
Jane (1866).

Phew!
The Richardsons obviously believed in having BIG families and Ann Richardson after marrying Samuel Ager went on to beat her mother and have twelve children, all Agers, Eva (1858), Eliza (1860), Sarah (1863), George (1865), Elizabeth (1866), Joseph (1868), James (1870), Samuel (1872), Harriet Leah (1874), Jane (1876), Mary (1877) and John Charles (1879).

North Crawley - is a parish having a number of small hedged fields close to the village centre which have survived almost intact since the 1770's. Further from the village the larger fields are remnants of the ancient open field system and are a mixture of pasture and arable land.

Some of the field names are modern forms of names of previous owners which include colonising Scandinavians who originally cleared the forests, and later the French who took possession after the Norman Conquest.
